Challenges of Single Parents and What They Wish Their Children Knew
As a family lawyer in Minneapolis and the Twin Cities, I often become somewhat of a therapist and confidant to my clients. This is a role that I really enjoy. Because of that, I also love keeping in touch with my clients after their cases are finalized to check up on them and see how they are doing. One issue that presents itself over and over again is the changing role and challenges associated with becoming a single mom. With the number of single mom’s more than tripling since 1960, mother’s raising their children in a single-parent household is becoming more and more common.
However, single-parent home or not, there are inherent challenges in raising children that run the emotional spectrum of feeling proud to feeling like a failure. In the end though, there are limitations and no parent is infallible.
